Foreign Minister Holds Third Strategic Dialogue Session with Japanese Counterpart in Riyadh

Prince Faisal bin Farhan welcomed Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi in Riyadh for their third strategic dialogue, emphasizing strong economic partnership and expanded cooperation.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah welcomed Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi at the ministry headquarters in Riyadh, where the two sides subsequently held their third strategic dialogue meeting.

In his opening remarks, Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized that Saudi Arabia places great importance on its longstanding relationship with Japan, which spans decades and is built on trust and mutual respect. He noted that Japan is a key economic partner for the Kingdom.

The Foreign Minister stated, "We see promising opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of investment, energy, resources, supply chains, defense, and technology, as well as in the exchange of expertise and capabilities, which supports our priorities and achieves our shared goals."

He affirmed that the Kingdom will remain a reliable partner for Japan in various fields, especially energy, appreciating Tokyo's efforts and initiatives aimed at enhancing economic resilience and stabilizing global energy and trade markets.

The Foreign Minister stressed that maritime security is a top shared priority between the two countries, emphasizing the need to protect freedom of navigation in all international waterways in accordance with international law, and the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandeb, and other maritime passages open, safe, and free from threats.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan concluded his remarks by saying, "The Kingdom continues its efforts to de-escalate and prevent the recurrence of tensions and conflicts by focusing on comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the sources of instability in our region. We affirm that diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful means remain our priorities, and we value Japan's role in supporting the principles of international law, its humanitarian and developmental contributions, and its positions in support of stability and peaceful solutions."

The reception was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Ghazi bin Faisal bin Zaqr, and the Director General of the General Administration of Asian Countries, Ambassador Nasser Al-Ghanum.
