ZATCA Foils Smuggling of 208,836 Amphetamine Pills at Al-Haditha Port and Arrests Recipients
ZATCA foiled a smuggling attempt of 208,836 amphetamine pills at Al-Haditha port, coordinating with authorities to arrest two recipients.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 208,836 amphetamine pills at the Al-Haditha port. These pills were discovered hidden within a shipment of 'poles' on a truck entering the Kingdom through the port.
Hammoud Al-Harbi, the official spokesperson for ZATCA, explained that during the customs procedures and security checks using advanced technologies and live methods, the large quantity of narcotic pills was found concealed in a shipment described as 'poles'.
Al-Harbi noted that following the seizure, coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control ensured the arrest of the shipment's recipients within the Kingdom, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals.
The spokesperson affirmed that the authority, through all its customs outlets, continues to tighten customs controls on the Kingdom's imports and exports, standing firm against smuggling attempts. This is in line with its strategic goal of enhancing community security and protection by curbing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other contraband, in cooperation with partners such as the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
Al-Harbi called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect the community and the national economy by contacting the authority via the dedicated security reporting number (1910), email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910). The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the unified customs system with complete confidentiality, offering a financial reward to informants if the report's information proves accurate.
