Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi welcomed the UN Security Council's condemnation of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and commercial ships, emphasizing GCC solidarity with the Kingdom.

Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the statement issued by the members of the UN Security Council on Friday, August 7, 2026, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as the attacks targeting commercial ships since July 22.

Al-Budaiwi affirmed that the GCC countries strongly condemn the repeated Houthi attacks against the Kingdom, which represent a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity. He emphasized that targeting commercial ships and threatening international maritime navigation lines constitutes a serious escalation that endangers regional security and stability.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding these attacks and to take a firm international stance to hold the Houthi militia accountable for its repeated attacks and violations, and to work towards an immediate and urgent cessation of these actions.

The Secretary-General stressed the GCC countries' full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facing all threats to its security, sovereignty, and stability, and supported the measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens and residents.
